Austria: Salzburg

offers three 3-week Summer Sessions, and students may enroll in one, two, or all three sessions. For one session, students take 1 course for 3 U.S. credits. The academic course work emphasizes the special opportunities provided by the Salzburg setting and offers an introduction to various aspects of Austrian and European culture. Experiential learning beyond the classroom is an important part of the academic program. This includes coordinated learning visits to historical sites, cultural institutions, professional organizations, artistic and musical events. Internships in Salzburg are also available during the summer session.

SPARK GRANT:

Qualifying freshman, sophomore, and transfer students can use their听SPARK Grant听for this short-term study abroad program.

Accommodations

To maximize cultural engagement, students have two different options.

1. Students can live with Austrian families in their homes, with both breakfast and dinner included听

OR

2. Students can share a room at an Austrian student dormitory, however, no meals are provided.

Program Costs & Funding

The program fee (per session) was $3,750 USD in 2026. It is subject to change in future years.听

Program Fee Includes:

  • Tuition for one course
  • Host Family Living with breakfast and dinner听
  • Course related excursions
  • Variety of local excursions, social events & day trips
  • Austrian Health Insurance

Not Included:

  • Flights to/from Austria
  • Lunch meals
  • Bus pass
  • Passport

  • Personal expenses

There is a non-refundable $500 deposit due upon registration.

听Funding Sources:

For SPARK eligible students, you will receive the $1,500 SPARK Grant from the Center for Life's Work.

For non-SPARK eligible students, you may be eligible for some funding through the Center for International Education.听

Application

Applications are closed for 2026.听 If you are interested in applying for 2027, please contact Josh Fess early in the Fall 2026 school year. It is rolling admissions so its best to submit your application sooner than later before the program fills up.听听
