Day 1

• Departure from 91快活林最新版 for Toronto on bus
• Overnight flight from Toronto to Athens

Day 2

• Arrival in Athens and bus transfer to hotel
• Evening walking orientation around the hotel area
• Evening welcome dinner in a local taverna

Day 3

• Meet at the lobby for a walking orientation in central听Athens & central Market (Varvakeios Agora), Syntagma and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier
• Free time for lunch
• Walk to the Athens Centre
• Program Orientation of Athens Centre
• Modern Greek language
• Greek dance class
• Evening group dinner

Day 4

• Guided visit to the Acropolis site
• Free time for lunch
• Visit to the Acropolis Museum

Day 5

• Visit the Byzantine & Christian Art Museum
• Guided Visit the archaeological site of the Lyceum of听Aristotle
• Walk to Temple of Olympian Zeus
• Guided Visit to the Temple of Olympian Zeus & Arch of听Hadrian and Zappeio Roman Baths
• Free time for lunch and independent activities
• Evening walk to Kolonaki and take the Lycabettus Hill Funicular up听to the top of Lycabettus Hill

Day 6

• Check-out from your hotel and departure for Delphi
• Drive to Osios Loukas monastery听
• Visit Osios Loukas Monastery
• Drive to Arachova
• Lunch in Arachova and free time to explore the area
• Bus transfer to Delphi and check-in to hotel
• Visit Delphi upper site and museum and lower site
• Evening group dinner

Day 7

• Check-out and departure for Kalambaka
• Drive to Kalambaka with a听brief visit to Thermopylae and the听Monument of Leonidas
• Group Lunch in Kastraki
• Visit Varlaam Monastery
• Visit St.Stephen鈥檚 Nunnery
• Check-in at hotel

Day 8

• Morning visit to the Great Meteoron Monastery,听Roussanou Monastery, and the听Aghios Nikolaos Monastery
• Afternoon lunch in Kalambaka
• Evening of wine tasting and olive oil tasting

Day 9

• Check-out from hotel
• Drive to Litochoro
• Free time in Litochoro听
• Drive to Thessaloniki听
• Group Lunch
• Visit the Museum of Byzantine Civilization of Thessaloniki
• Walk to the White Tower
• Visit the White Tower
• Walk by Thessaloniki sea front towards the hotel for check-in.

Day 10

• Bus pick-up from Hotel
• Drive to Kavala port
• Bus drop-off to Kavala port and walk to Old Town, Castle听and Aquaduct
• Free time for lunch
• Drive to Philippi archaeological site
• Visit the site, museum and the theatre
• Transfer back to Thessaloniki

Day 11

• Bus pick-up from hotel
• Drop-off to Ano Polis of Thessaloniki
• Visit Heptapyrgion and Acropolis of Thessaloniki,听Triangle Tower, Portara Main Gate,听Arch of Galerius and the Rotunda
• Free time for lunch
• Visit the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki

Day 12

• Check-out.
• Stop at Platamonas for free time at the beach and lunch
• Transfer back to Athens听

Day 13

• Morning visit to Ancient Agora and the Agora museum
• Visit Roman Agora
• Group lunch
• Evening visit to Kerameikos

Day 14

• Walk to National Museum of Contemporary Art
• Visit the Museum
• Free time for lunch
• Bus pick-up and transfer to National Archaeological听Museum of Athens
• Visit the Museum
• Bus transfer back to hotel

Day 15

• Day trip to Aegina

Day 16

• Morning walk and visit to Cycladic Museum
• Free time for independent activities
• Farewell Dinner

Day 17

• Check-out and transfer to Athens International Airport

You will stay in a variety of hotel accommodations (doubles or triples) for the duration of the program.

AHI 384 (Art History 3 CR) - Aegean Art & Culture

This course provides an opportunity for students to study first-hand about ancient and contemporary art and culture through travel in Greece.听

NOTE: It is strongly encouraged that you have a lower division (100 or 200 level) course in history, arts, or the social sciences to be best prepared for this upper division art history course.

The program cost for this trip in 2025 was $4,350.00. It is subject to change in 2027.听

Program Fee Includes:

• Round trip airfare
• All hotels and accommodation
• Meals part of the itinerary
• All in-country transportation, including ferries
• All projects, activities, workshops, museum entries, etc. part of the itinerary
• Ground transportation to and from airports (if necessary)听
• International travel and medical insurance

Not Included:

• Passport (must be valid at least 6 months past the return date of the program). Contact Josh Fess as soon as possible for assistance with applying for or renewing your passport.
  
• Additional meals (meals not in the itinerary)
• Miscellaneous expenses (such as souvenirs, personal care items, etc.)

Funding Sources:

For SPARK eligible students, you will receive the $1,500 SPARK Grant from the Center for Life's Work. SPARK students will also receive a three credit tuition offset which covers summer tuition for this course. Students will still need to pay the $30 course registration fee.听

For non-SPARK eligible undergraduate students, you may be eligible for funding from the Center for International Education. You will also receive a two credit offset which covers a majority of the summer tuition for this course. You will also need to pay the $30 course registration fee.听
